Last spring, a hot water line above my room ruptured. Water poured into my classroom for over 48 hours because it occurred on a weekend. I had to throw out many treasured books due to the books becoming ruined by the water or the likelihood mold growth in the books. It was devastating to have to place over a hundred books into the dumpster. My students need to be read to and need classroom books to read for pleasure. First grade is such a critical year to have the students get hooked on reading. With these new books, my students will get to listen to and read some amazing stories. I love to read stories to my students and then discuss the events from the story and any lesson that was learned from the story.
