I teach RTI and my students often come to my room with a lot of energy. The curriculum we use requires lots of sitting and for us to move rather quickly. My students struggle to stay seated and focused throughout the lesson even with the frequent changes in location. This results in them shutting down, bouncing around, running away from the table, etc. When I use spinney chairs they focus better, but I don't have enough and they aren't supposed to use "teacher" chairs. They need to fidget, move and have sensory input in order to concentrate and engage in the lesson. Which is why I need your help purchasing Wobble stools for them! The design of these chairs is perfect for independence, collaboration, and creating a student centered classroom. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow some movement. These will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. My students are also driven by rewards. I don't do them very often and they have to earn them as a team. This is because we had lots of teasing and comparing in the beginning of the year and they were not responding to corrections. Doing the group prize charts has encouraged students to be collaborate, help one another, encourage and motivate each other.
