One of the things I love most about being a teacher is creating a classroom community. Year after year, I strive to create a fun, kind, and comfortable learning environment for my students. If you were to walk into my room on any given day, you would find students working together to solve problems, cheering each other on, laughing and playing together, and encouraging each other to be their true selves. You may also see students spending some time alone, practicing mindfulness, and working independently on projects of their choice. You would find a little bit of everything, and lots of different personalities, but that's what makes it so special. I love giving my students freedom and choice as much as possible because every child learns differently and every child deserves a say in their own education. The project that I've created for my students this year is to get flexible seating for our classroom. "Flexible Seating" includes things like beanbag chairs, cushions to put all around the room, and yoga ball chairs and wobble stools to allow for a bit more movement while staying engaged in the lessons. Flexible seating is not only FUN for the students, but it also creates a unique & exciting learning environment that will help students succeed. I think that having flexible seating in my room will only strengthen our classroom community. Students can comfortably work together all over the room during group time, as well as have a cozy space to be alone when they need that time to themselves. Not to mention- they will be super excited to get to do their work in an awesome chair in a random corner of the room (it's the little things!). Thank you in advance for helping to make our classroom community even more special!
