I teach Social Studies to 8th grade students and sponsor an after school mentoring program for at risk young men, Boys2Men Male Mentoring. Keeping students engaged, interested and involved in the classroom is a constant challenge especially with students with reading and language challenges such as our kids. Most of our students come from poverty stricken, single parent households where they have to take a role of helping take care of siblings or working to help their families. My goal is unlock the world around them and let them know that the world is larger than their "hood."

About my class
