The students I teach are from a rural county in Western NC. Our school is a Title I school with about 330 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. A Title I school is a school in which more than 50% of the population in the school receive free or reduced lunch. Each classroom receives music instruction one time a week. Our students are excited to learn and love to experiment with new instruments and activities. For many of our students their weekly music class is their only study of music or playing musical instruments.
