In our institution, we have students who are emerging readers. They are dealing with difficult pasts regarding reading and media literacy. We want to use these new materials to help bridge the gap and differentiate our learning. Students who are identified as ESL can learn from the structure and images included in these stories. Graphic novels can promote media literacy in a way that traditional novels cannot. We as an institution aim to create an environment for diverse learners. Our graphic novels will help to show off old and new texts for our students.
