The requested lab involves the process of eutrophication which is a huge part of our environmental science curriculum. Nitrogen and Phosphorus are the chemicals that make up most of the fertilizer used by both farming and agriculture, as well as everyday homeowners fertilizing their yard. By putting the chemicals on the sample water themselves and watching the algae grow, eutrophication will become much more clear to them than just reading about the process. They will be able to see the effects of too much fertilizer on our surface waters with their own eyes.

About my class
