By providing my students with a calm/sensory room, the students will be able to have a safe place to calm down in the school. This space will allow students to have the time that they need to regulate their emotions on the days that they need it the most. The Xtra large foam mats, bean bags, and reading pillows will provide a space for students to sit while in the room. Students will use the northern light and liquid motion bubbler to create a scene of calm. The fidget bands, stress balls, feeling flipbook, and other resources provided in this room will teach the students important skills such as mindfulness, self-regulation, impulse control, and recognizing emotions and feelings. The goal is for the students to use the strategies that they have learned in the calm room to assist them in the classroom and at home.
