I am requesting a carpet and books for a calm area for reading and learning new words. These materials will be used in class to create a calm space for students to read. This will help my students to practice word recognition, sounding out words and seeing the list of site words that is required by kindergarten. In addition, our students will be learning about self regulation and learning how to calm themselves as they get through the day, dealing with their own emotions as well as those of their classmates. The projected result is that they can use this area for calming themselves, helping others be calm and reading to themselves and others.
