My 5th graders are a vivacious group of students. Their willingness to learn makes the day go by fast because time flies when you're having fun! However some times they lose their fuel in between the four gaps between breakfast and lunch which makes it difficult for them to keep going. To prevent this, I provide snacks for them during brain breaks. Not all of the children eat the breakfast provided by the school and sometimes I have children that arrive late and miss that breakfast window. They love brain breaks because not only does it give them time to debrief and mentally prepare for the next part of the day, it reenergizes them to make them ready and willing to learn.
