Whenever I have taught stage makeup in the past, I have had to focus on theory only. I would like to teach a unit in my beginning technical theatre class that focuses on the actual application of stage makeup. The students will learn basic stage makeup techniques such as contouring, old age makeup, and cuts and bruises. These are techniques they will use most often in our shows at school. Learning this skill will allow more students to get involved in our shows, shows in the area, and can open the door to a future stage makeup artist career. This will be a huge opportunity for many of them. They will be able to design their own stage makeup looks and then apply them to their own faces using the techniques they learned in class.
