Music classrooms lend themselves to self discovery. When instrument selection is severely limited, this process can take longer with some students. Ukuleles in the classroom are a great mellow instrument to add to an otherwise noisy music classroom. The additional choices of quality instruments will help encourage shy students to find a way to express themselves. Right now we have bucket drums, boomwhackers, some basic percussion items and a few basic Orff instruments to use. Those instruments are not always the best for students who are nervous around big sounds. Ukuleles add depth and color to any ensemble.
