Being aware of happenings in the world contributes to the development of students’ open-mindedness and curiosity. It also promotes acceptance & embrace of diversity and gives these young people a sense of the importance of their place in their community and world at-large. My students absolutely love learning about history and current events. Parents often compliment me for sparking in their child an interest in important happenings of the past and how they can help shape the future. Scholastic News & TpT are wonderful resources to teach my newsworthy students! We use these materials for Reading & discussions in class as well as the digital resources available for home assignments.
