This project is about building a highly diverse classroom library to which each student feels represented. When it comes to reading books representation matters! Several of the books will be used in multiple ways which include but are not limited to during morning meetings, discussions, and teacher read-aloud. Many of these books were chosen to highlight diversity in our classroom. These stories will be used to cover social-emotional topics such as kindness, differences, and emotions. I want to create a classroom library that provides students with a range of genres and topics to choose from. A child will find interest in reading when there are topics that they are interested in. Students are able to connect with the words and the pictures on each page. They form connections with books through read aloud and independent reading.
