Children need to move--especially to learn. Flexible seating allows them options for wobbling, rocking, bouncing, leaning or standing, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. This in turn helps to keep their brains alert and focused. Students who participate in bursts of physical activity in the classroom demonstrate increased performance academically and have shown increased on task behavior. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. Finally, flexible seating allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class all without losing valuable time by moving heavy furniture.
