At the beginning of each school year, we diagnose the readiness of our students to receive literacy instruction. It is important to us to make sure our students are reading fluently before leaving second grade. Our district uses an indicator that has an internet-based platform for these diagnostics. We have come to realize that we receive much more accurate results when the students can use a touch screen to select their choices during the diagnostic rather than using a keyboard. In addition, the portability of the tablets makes it much easier for the members of my Early Intervention Program to move from room to room and test these students individually.
