Research has shown that a comfortable, warm and safe space is beneficial to learning. In our classroom this will help the students feel more at ease and be more open to new ideas. Please help me give my 3rd graders these few items to create a space with a rug and comfy pillows, so they’ll love to get lost in learning. The students will use this carpet and pillows during independent reading time, guided reading stations, whole class instruction as well as to promote and encourage peer friendships. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating throughout the day.
