Having a diverse collection of literature can support all students in finding titles that they can read and connect with on some level while affirming their own cultural identities and hopefully developing important positive insights about others. I plan to read these titles to the students out loud when given the opportunity. Reading them and sharing my enthusiasm is essential in building a climate where all students feel accepted and worthy of an education. But simply, a good book can help any child build empathy for others as well as to create goals and visions for their own self.

About my class
