Picture a classroom filled with twenty-nine students who are eager to learn, but there are not enough math manipulatives to go around to teach a math concept, or students with a running nose, but no Kleenex to clean their noses. This is a preview of my classroom. The school's enrollment is approximately seven hundred four students. The racial makeup is about eighty-nine percent African American, five percent Asian, five percent Hispanic, and one percent Caucasian. In my classroom I have twenty seven African American students, one Hispanic student, and one Asian student, who are all from low socio-economic households. However, their social status has no barring on how they learn as long as they have the necessary resources/basic supplies to help them achieve.
