Many of our students are hands-on learners. Being that many of our students are English Language Learners, hands-on activities can help them to develop a connection to mathematical concepts without the added pressure of interpreting an unfamiliar language in all activities. These materials can help students to foster a sense of independence as well as accomplishment while having fun. The geoboards can be used in a number of ways, such as: finding the area and perimeter of various polygons, graphing on coordinate planes, practicing slope and y-intercept, and representing different triangle types. The dry erase boards engage the students in many ways also. They can be used for reviewing many mathematical concepts as well as facilitating learning through a variety of games.
