Flexible seating options and intentional movement breaks can allow students to continue to access their education uninterrupted, instead of needing to step away to get that energy out. These tools will help students do their best learning while keeping their sensory and movement needs met. In my classroom we also take breaks in between tasks to practice different kinds of movements. This time gives us an opportunity to get energy out, refocus our brains, improve our gross motor and direction-following skills, and have fun! Everyone learns differently, my hope is to provide added access for my students to be able to find what works for them so that they can advocate for and access education to their fullest potential.
