I believe it is important that kids be surrounded by books. Unfortunately, the books we usually see in classrooms do not represent the student body. I want to update and grow my classroom library to represent students of all colors, genders, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The more a student can see themselves in a book, the higher the chances are they will not only read the book but also enjoy it. Most of the books in my classroom are very old and outdated because I’ve had to acquire them however possible (boxes of thrown-out books, Goodwill, etc.). I would love to see my students with culturally diverse, well-maintained books in their hands!

About my class
