My students will have a space where they feel safe and comfortable calming down and express their feelings in an appropriate way. The items I am requesting will be used to create a calming sensory space with yoga mats and soft lighting. The tablets and headphones will be used for students to listen to calming sounds and music or guided meditations that will aid in self-regulation and de-escalation. In addition, students can use the tablets to check-in on a mood meter to measure and manage their emotions. The goal is for students to have the space and materials they need to regulate themselves and re-engage in their learning activities. This space will be available for students receiving Special Education social/emotional and behavioral supports, as well as regular education students who may need support.
