These novels will provide a diverse experience for my students. They will be immersed in another culture and led by a female protagonist which greatly differs from many traditional novels provided by districts. Students will be completing homework and research from home but will not be taking books home with them. They will research the history and culture of India (the setting of the novel) as well as the Caste System. I am hoping to provide diverse literature in an effort to increase student engagement and investment in learning so that they can improve on their critical reading and thinking skills which are necessary for success at the college and career level.

About my class
