As stated previously, each of my students comes from a different background. This means they do not all have access to the same learning materials at home to support their learning at school. This gap only became more distinct over the past year and a half, as many of my students spent months at home trying to learn virtually. I would like to provide a package of flash cards to practice multiplication facts for each one of my students, because our math team has identified multiplication fact fluently as one of the top indicators of success in fifth-grade math. Multiplication fluency is required to be successful in many of our units, such as decimal and fraction operations. Unfortunately, many students come into our classrooms without the foundational knowledge they need to move forward. Supporting an opportunity for every student to practice their facts at home will have a lasting impact on their education this year, and will lead to their excellence in mathematics for the rest of their academic careers.
