The 2020/2021 school year can be summed up in two words: COVID-19 and pivot. This year, I have a different vision of how the 2021/2022 school year should go: catalytic, captivating, and comfy. Despite my vision, we still have to maneuver a few more pivots. This year's pivot has challenged us to teach a full classroom while maintaining social distancing. Two unique conundrums have risen from this challenge. How can my students comfortably view material on the Promethean Board? How can I keep my classroom cool while opening the windows and doors to promote circulation per CDC guidance? Mini projectors will resolve my first problem. With the mini projectors, my students will be able to view the material from both ends of the classroom. My students can comfortably engage while maintaining social distance. The mini projectors will supplement catalytic and captivating learning as well; ranging from art projects to learning about the physics of light and waves. One of the weaknesses of teaching in a portable classroom is maintaining a comfortable temperature with two window A/C units. Now with the recommendation of the windows and doors needing to be open, the window units can only cool about half the classroom. With the box fans, we can bolster circulation and keep the classroom at a cool temperature. We cannot expect captivating work from our students if they are not comfortable.
