My sixth grade students will be learning how to find the areas of different shapes including parallelograms, polygons, and triangles. My students will also learn how to find the area of a 3D shape using a net. Another standard that they will be covering is the multiplication of fractions. These math manipulatives can help my students see and use a hands on model when learning these concepts. Math is a less preferred activity with my students and by using math manipulatives I hope to have them more engaged in their learning.
