Whether my students spent last year being homeschooled, taking part in distance learning, or going to school in-person, all children are facing a reduction in their social and emotional skills. As a result, students forget how to kindly interact with one another. In addition to this, I find it vital for my students to understand that people around them will always look and act different than them and that is okay. The Diversity Inclusion Prompt Cards will help to spark conversations between my students regarding a variety of inclusion topics. The Diversity Inclusion Hardcover Library and Multicultural Stories Paperback Library will help give insight to my students about their own abilities and cultures. The Children of the World Book Set will present my students with a "window to another world" while they dive into learning how children in different parts of the world live. The People Colors crayons and markers are going to spark joy in my students when they can color a more realistic picture of themselves using colors other than yellow, tan, and brown. The various books included are going to be great for us to come together for story-time. This is a time where we can relax, listen, and learn; at the end, my students will be able to collaborate and have meaningful conversations about the importance of being different. The donations to this project will help immerse my students into learning about how diverse, unique and special themselves and their peers really are. I want them to feel comfortable and empowered when asking difficult questions relating to race, disabilities, and culture. I need my students to feel proud of who they are, what they believe, and where they come from. Diversity. It is something to celebrate!
