My students are in need of stable, functional desks. These new desks will make a positive influence on my students' learning environment. The desks that are currently in my classroom are old and were constructed for right-handed learners. Many are broken, have uneven/warped worktops, and have sanded areas due to years of use. They are not ideal for group work due to the uneven tops. I believe it is essential for students to feel comfortable in their own space so they can become more involved in class, and these desks are a way to improve this situation. The new desks requested have level tops and are very stable. The desks can also fit well together for group activities. When the student can see himself/herself as a productive member of our classroom community, self-esteem increases and they are able to better understand, appreciate, and learn from each other. These desks that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." We just need your help in getting everything through our door!
