I am moving to a new classroom this year where I do not have a carpet for my class. In elementary school, students gather on the carpet for whole-group lessons several times throughout the day. Students use this space for learning and working cooperatively, indoor recess, and a creative space to reason through various concepts. The carpet in an elementary classroom is also a place for building community. Students and their teacher learn from, with, and about one another in this space. Conversations build relationships, which are essential to learning.

About my class
