All young students missed out on speaking practice while away from school. Especially for our EL learners, this is a crucial skill, and building their confidence back up in this area will be vital to their overall academic success in the future. I am excited to welcome our EL students back to school and help them build their confidence back up in the area of self expression. I will be introducing a variety of speaking and language use activities designed to get them talking, increase their fluency, and guide their grammar and lexical use learning. In addition, as I am currently sharing my classroom with another teacher, I want my students to have complete freedom to talk, sing, and collaborate with each other without having to whisper to avoid disturbing another group. The items listed in my project will help me to create a safe, lively, and creative space for my ELL students to grow and thrive.
