What is more important than giving students their best chance at becoming great readers and mathematicians? Help me provide a center where students can be engaged in their learning! Group time is essential to student success because kids learn best from each other. Students will be able to gather around this multipurpose easel during math or reading time and contribute to conversations that will deepen their understanding of the material. Because space is a precious commodity in a classroom, a teacher usually has to get creative when it comes to presenting and hanging visuals. I will easily be able to switch from giving a lesson on telling time to describe different elements of a story by simply clipping on a chart or spinning the cart! Did I mention that students learn best from each other? One of my favorite things to see as a teacher is when a child can stand up and explain how or why they reached whatever conclusion they came to and see another light up because that explanation helped them make a connection. Centers like this give students a safe place to share their understanding and feel like the teacher!
