Currently, our school does not have enough room and desks for each student to have their own space in our classrooms. Half of our students will have a desk, while the other half will just have a chair to the side of a desk. To put it more visually, the students on the ends only have a place to put an elbow. On the surface level, those students do not have a functional workspace. Dig deeper and we are choosing who will succeed by the tools we do or not give them. We talk about building communities within our classrooms, but how do you build a community when there is no equality? By funding this project, most of our students will have a desk and space to call their own, where they can grow and focus on learning. These desks will more importantly build equality. Our classroom can once again become a space for each in our community. By giving them each space, it shows them that they are worthy and wanted.
