Students in Hawaii have the opportunity to learn in fresh air and sunlight to keep them healthy, which is extremely important at this time. Flexible seating/desks, decorations, all combined with the opportunity to grow flowers in hanging pots on fences will give them a unique outdoor learning experience. On rainy days the lightweight furniture can be moved and utilized indoors as well. My dream is to teach our newly piloted reading program outside. Additionally students at this grade level learn about plant growth. This would be a lovely way to incorporate our science curriculum into the wholly integrated outdoor classroom.
