We, the first grade teachers of West Elementary, are creating print-rich atmospheres for our students. These books will allow students to hear text read aloud fluently while visualizing. The past year has been extremely difficult for our children so we feel the need to get real books back in the hands of kids. The classroom can be the most consistent place in a child's life. Read alouds, partner reading, independent reading, picture reading, and listening centers allow students to have books in their hands which enables them to look at print and understand concepts that otherwise may never be introduced.

About my class
