Vertical non-permanent anchor charts that students can write on with dry erase markers would bring my classroom to the next learning level! Studies show that using these vertical non-permanent surfaces allow students to think, collaborate, and process in a faster, more efficient way when compared to horizontal surfaces. Due to the pandemic, my students and I were forced to dive more deeply into the digital world and undoubtedly, learn how to navigate various tech tools. However, I want to give my students the opportunity to feel math again with their fingers tips. I want my students to have the opportunity to get back to the traditional way of working out a problem on paper (more specifically, reusable paper) with their group members. The diverse learners that are in my integrated co-teaching classroom will benefit tremendously from the daily use of reusable vertical surfaces. I want my students to have an active mind and body in my classroom while learning and exploring mathematics. Having access to vertical non-permanent surfaces, dry erase markers, and erasers will allow my students another avenue to express their mathematical thinking as well as give me the chance to optimize their learning of mathematics.
