I'm adding low-stimulation independent workspace options to my classroom in the form of dividers, noise-reducing earmuffs, and low lighting. Having access to dividers and earmuffs will allow students to choose the work environment that helps them focus best. Low-light options will help me calm the mood of the entire class when appropriate. This will be especially beneficial to my English Learners, who may be struggling from language fatigue, and my introverts, who work best without a lot of external stimuli. As an introverted teacher and former student, it's important to me that students who might need a little quiet or space to focus can have that at school. I will be adding items from this project to the things I already have for the students who enjoy a higher-stimulation independent workspace (headphones, rocking seats, etc.).
