I am an experienced kindergarten teacher. I have moved to a new school in a new state. My classroom is bare. I am a strong believer in developmentally appropriate centers for learning and social skills. Dramatic play has the most profound effect on language and literacy development. All kindergarten students are in the process of learning language skills. My English Language Learners thrive during our learning centers. They feel comfortable talking with other students, learning new words, and social skills. When children play with other children, they learn how to get along with others, to problem solve, and how to communicate and use language effectively. Having a kitchen center in our classroom will bring about rich language experiences and play that will benefit all of my students.
