Kindergarten students need many opportunities to interact in order to build social skills. Whether working together to construct a creation or simply playing alongside one another while engaging in conversation, these opportunities are critical for building these important social/emotional skills. This year especially, children crave opportunities to play freely and reduce anxiety. Having a light table in our classroom would provide a wonderful avenue for them to play together in an unstructured way and foster important social skills! This light table can be used with transparent manipulatives in a variety of ways--math, literacy, and STEM can all be incorporated into play on the light table! These materials are easily sanitized so that we can still play safely during the time of COVID.
