This is my first year teaching and I will be in Kindergarten. These kindergarten students struggle each day and face so many challenges in Guilford County. The entire school receives free breakfasts and lunches, and some students even receive food on weekends so that they have something to eat when they are not at school. With those difficulties, I cannot expect my students and their families to spend money on books, resources, and extracurricular activities. The literacy rate for my students is extremely low, and it is up to me as their teacher to provide an engaging educational opportunities. My students are bright and eager to learn, and my hope is to find ways to many ways in which I can enrich their lives with interesting resources and activities that will promote critical thinking skills and student learning. My students deserve the best education I can possibly give them while they are in my care. I take this to heart and try my best to make sure that happens every day!
