My 8th-graders are always on the lookout for books that will help them to understand the world in which they are beginning to engage. Throughout the year, my students select books to read from our classroom library, and many opt to share the reading experience with a partner. As students read, they interview one another about what they are thinking in response to their books and make recommendations to their classmates as they see fit! These books have captured the attention of my students and I would love to be able to easily offer them to my students when our school year begins. Each of these books relates to the questions that we are asking as a class about American history, social responsibility, and equity. I look forward to the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussions with my students and to hear them engage with one another!
