My hope is that having different seating options will give fidgety first graders the opportunity to sit comfortably, still fidget without disrupting the entire class, and keep them engaged in the learning process. Flexible seating gives younger students the opportunity to make decisions and allows them to have some control over their education. Wobble stools and wobble cushions will give the students the feeling that they are rocking their chairs back and forth without actual chairs tipping over and students falling. The Surf portable lap desks will allow students to feel like they are sitting on the floor but keep them contained to one area. Different types of seating will also give those students who may not fit well in a chair and desk the chance to enjoy sitting at a desk.
