With my early learners, they need to be active and collaborative to succeed in this goal! Due to COVID regulations last school year, active and flexible learning were not possible. This included my favorite part of the classroom, our classroom rug! The rug is a place that is utilized often for their leaning as well as social emotional skills. Many researchers agree that “classrooms designed to support participative learning, increased student engagement compared to traditional row-by-column seating (Scott-Webber, Strickland, and Kapitula)” I believe providing them with more flexible options in my classroom with chairs, wobble seats, and a classroom rug, I would be able to provide my students with even more room for growth!
