I want my students to have a greater level of autonomy in the classroom. Allowing students to choose where they sit will allow them to recognize what their bodies and minds need to focus and do their best work. Many adults recognize this need too, as it seems to be easier to get work done when you’re comfortable. With a diverse set of learners in my classroom I desire an array of options for seating— something that will hopefully inspire a myriad of learners to do their best. I have seen flexible seating work wonders in many classrooms and I look forward to providing that choice to my own students.
