Most of us recognize the benefits of reading. As we read, we find ourselves entering the world described in the pages of a good book. We find ourselves involved with the characters. We gain new insights and ideas. I want to provide the students with fun and relatable children’s books while effortlessly involving them in social-emotional learning. These stories serve as a springboard for discussion and resolution of that dilemma. Direct reading and follow-up activities with an adult provide guidance on social-emotional learning topics that assist students with real-world problems.
