The Tap Tap Lights and the Sensory Tiles will be added to the sensory wall/corner of my classroom. This area will allow my students to release anxiety and overstimulating energy in order for them to be able to increase focus for longer periods of time on academic tasks. According to the Grand Valley State University Occupational Therapy Graduate Research project, on average students are 56% more engaged in classroom activities post-sensory intervention. The use of sensory items in schools has been increasing over the last decade. Students have different sensory needs and require multiple sensory interventions. Adding these items to my sensory area will increase the amount of sensory experiences available to my students, hopefully allowing me to address all the sensory needs of my students.
