I will be receiving a fresh new group of 6th graders this school year and I want to share my passion and excitement of reading with them. Students are not always pumped to read when books have dated material that does not correlate to their lives. Receiving these new books will bring a variety of books to our classroom that students will be able to checkout and take home. Some of the books chosen are more relatable to my students, while others are action-packed and will get imaginations soaring! I have chosen a diverse group of books that provide differentiated reading levels, topics, and points of view. My goal is for my students to increase vocabulary and reading ability while bringing excitement towards reading and helping to mold their young minds into open-minded, inclusive people that accept others and themselves for who they are.
