Developing solid reading habits and developing a love for reading is essential in improving student reading and increasing test scores. One way to do this is to implement a workshop in the classroom that fosters the love of reading. I chose the Scholastic Storyworks Program because it is designed to generate a love of reading among students. In my classroom, we will utilize this program as a reader's workshop to choose their own text to read and share it with their group. This often excites another student in the group and makes choosing a text much easier. Overall the students are successful, reading scores increase, and high stakes assessment scores improve.
