There is a huge need for students to help understand their emotions and what they can do when they are feeling strong emotions. These products will be put into my classroom for our "zen area". After learning through my Master's and teaching at Title One school, I have realized there are so many students who cannot regulate themselves emotionally. This may be due to no one at home teaching them how to regulate or even talk about strong emotions, or it could be that caretakers at home might resemble some unsafe emotional regulation. I truly believe that allowing students to self-identify how they are feeling and to support their regulation will help them more than any curriculum can. This project allows me to create a space for students who need light, movement, or sound to help calm their bodies.
