The ukuleles that I am requesting will give students the opportunity to learn to play and instrument, apply music reading skills, and be creative as they improvise and compose their own music. We currently have ten ukes but need more to make this unit available to all students and your donation can help to get us there! Music is best learned by experience and putting a Ukulele in the hands of a child is the missing ingredient for our recipe for success. Students will be able to collaborate and learn the skills of playing in an ensemble while applying musical concepts. Music making helps students make connections to the world around them and give them an avenue of personal expression. Students will have opportunity to use their ukulele playing skills to organize and use their artistic ideas, as well as to perform, evaluate and refine their ideas. Giving students an instrument that they can perform on helps them to interpret music and show the meaning of a piece through a performance and teaches them the discipline of rehearsing, analyzing and improving their performance.
